day 2: ARUSHA – TARANGIRE - KARATU

Today after Breakfast, drive to Tarangire National Park for full day game drive, where open grasslands, acacia trees and the Tarangire River paint the wild landscape. Spend the afternoon on a game drive in search of eland, Oryx, wildebeests, zebras and a large elephant population. Keep your eyes trained for hartebeests, gazelles and exotic birds like the bateleur and martial eagle. Late in the afternoon we drive in the direction of great rift valley escarpment then to our lodge in Karatu for dinner and overnight.

day 3: KARATU - CENTRAL SERENGETI

Drive to the fabled Serengeti National Park via Ngorongoro Conservation Ara and settle into your remote and authentic camp. Then, set out on the boundless Serengeti, one of the oldest and least changed ecosystems on earth, where the circle of life plays out every day, as it has for eons. It is home to one of the world’s largest concentrations of wildlife, with lions, hyenas and leopards all endemic. The region also hosts the spectacular Great Migration, when a flurry of wildebeests and zebras arrive in search of grass and water. It is an epic spectacle you may witness, depending on your choice of departure. This evening, as the equatorial sun hangs low over the plains, take a moment to sip a cocktail and reflect on the majesty of Africa during a relaxing Scenic Sundowner experience.

day 4: CENTRAL SERENGETI

Venture out on morning and afternoon game drives in the protected Serengeti refuge, where flowing rivers support a plethora of species. In addition to the “Big Five” (lions, elephants, buffalo, leopards and rhinos), keep your camera handy for a cheetah bolting after a fleet Thomson’s gazelle. Enjoy ideal game viewing during your time in the bush, as your highly experienced driver-guide strives continually to keep you in the heart of the action. Tonight, gather for a memorable farewell dinner.

day 5: CENTRAL SERENGETI – NGORONGORO - KARATU

Late morning descends into Crater about 610 meters with a stopover at the Olduvai gorges. Ngorongoro is home to an abundance of wildlife and a photogenic paradise, for a full day of game viewing drive with picnic lunch at a private scenic site (hippos pool). Ngorongoro Crater, the largest intact caldera in the world teams with an abundance of wildlife permanently resident on the crater floor. Prides of lions, herds of Cape buffalo, impala, Thompson gazelles, rhino, golden and black backed jackal, zebra, cheetah, leopard and the spotted hyena freely roam on the crater floor plains. Unmatched for its natural variety and breath taking beauty, there are few places on earth where such a tremendous diversity of landscapes exists inside a region this size. Apart from its wildlife riches, the crater is also home to hundreds of bird species, refreshing in the small lakes in the crater floor. Ascend the crater and drive to back to Karatu for dinner and overnight.

day 6: KARATU – LAKE EYASI – KARATU

Early morning departure to Lake Eyasi for local hunting experience with Hadzabe and Datonga tribes. This is not a mere performance. The bushmen rely on these techniques to survive and you’ll need to be very attentive and at times quiet, while they demonstrate their use of locally made poisons in incapacitating the poor creatures on which they depend for survival.

The tribe inhabits the shores of Lake Eyasi as do the Nilotic-speaking Datoga tribe. You will visit these tribes, which will include a visit to their homesteads, learn about their way of life, animal tracking, medicinal plants, and much more. Some wildlife and a wide range of bird species can be viewed during walks around the lake, which can be arranged.

day 7: KARATU – LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK - ARUSHA

After breakfast you depart for Lake Manyara National Park (approx 90 Km) with en-route views. Nestling at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment, A beautiful park, Lake Manyara contains a diverse range of habitats and topographical features ranging from the rift wall, ground water forest, acacia woodlands and open grasslands to the shores of Lake Manyara and the lake itself. Have afternoon game viewing in the park searching for the diverse flora and fauna of the park. There are some 350 different bird species in the park. The park provides sanctuary to a variety of animals such as the gazelle, impala, buffalo, wildebeest, hyena, baboon, giraffe, hippo and the famous tree-climbing lions that are unique to the Lake. The park is generally recognized for its incredible beauty. Afterwards drive to Arusha for dinner and overnight.
